April 01, 2008: Norman Rockwell Models to Share Memories At High Tea At Pittsfield, MA's Berkshire Crowne Plaza Hotel April 3rd Celebrating the Life of the Artist

BOSTON, April 1, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Norman Rockwell's models will share their memories of working for the late artist at a special High Tea to benefit the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, MA. The High Tea will be held at the Berkshire Crowne Plaza Hotel in Pittsfield, MA, Thursday, April 3, starting at 4 p.m. Celebrating the life and career of Norman Rockwell, the event will include appearances by Wray Gunn, who posed as one of the young boys in Rockwell's classic civil rights era painting, "New Kids in the Neighborhood" (1967); Julie Martino, who modeled for a series of advertisements the illustrator created for the Florida Gas Company in the 1970s; and Betsy Manning, a neighbor of the late artist, who modeled for advertising illustrations for Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance and the memorable Saturday Evening Post cover "Girl Missing Tooth" (1957). Norman Rockwell Museum curators will also be on hand to present an illustrated talk on Rockwell, a preview of upcoming Museum events, and a special screening of the Museum-produced documentary "Drawing Inspiration: Norman Rockwell in Stockbridge."

According to travel expert and nationally syndicated radio talk show host Stephanie Abrams, who will be in attendance and will record interviews with the models and museum experts for airing on Travel WITH Stephanie Abrams and Traveling Feet, "This Norman Rockwell High Tea is a wonderful opportunity to bring Rockwell's Americana to life in the perfect venue. The High Tea will be held at the Top of the Crowne, a spectacular U-shaped room atop of the Berkshire Crowne Plaza Hotel with panoramic views of the Berkshire Mountains. It's the perfect backdrop for any event but it's particularly in harmony with the mood of High Tea with Norman Rockwell!"

The event cost is $18 per person and includes elegant tea service with delectable light fare, tax, service, and parking. A special Berkshire Crowne accommodations rate of $124 plus taxes is available for overnights. A donation of 5% of the food service and room rates will be given to the Norman Rockwell Museum. For accommodations reservations please contact the hotel at 413-499-2000. Reservations and information for the High Tea event, please contact 413.298.4100, ext. 239.
