The winner of Queensland Tourism's “Best Job in the World” will be stationed in Hamilton Island on Queensland, Australia. The lucky caretaker will earn a salary of 100,000 dollars for the 6 month period and live in a 4 million dollar, luxury home. Jungle Surfing Canopy Tours provides an opportunity to experience the rainforest from a unique perspective. The Daintree Rainforest is a 120,000 years old, one of the oldest in the world. The founder of Jungle Surfing was inspired to create a series of zip lines attached to trees in the rainforest after seeing the movie “Medicine Man” which featured characters living in the tree tops. Jungle Surfing participants fly amongst the trees in the rainforest moving from platform to platform 22.5 meters above the rainforest floor (roughly 80 feet).

Guests are not required to receive expert training prior to the experience as a master jumper does all the work. Jungle Surfing also offers a night walk where a guide gives a tour by torch light.

Dooley Car Rental is the only independent car rental company in Ireland and it is Stephanie's favorite rental company to do business with. In her recent trip to Ireland, Stephanie averaged 37 miles per gallon using diesel fuel. She paid as little as .914 euros per litre.

In Berkshire County the country road speed limits are generally 35 to 40 miles an hour. Stephanie says that there are country roads in Ireland with speed limits posted at 100 kilometers an hour (approximately 62 miles). Pat Dooley, CEO of Dooley Car Rental, states that this is due in part to a recent change in road signs. Ireland changed from miles to kilometers in 2007 and this resulted in some incorrectly posted speeds.

Two of Boston Massachusetts greatest sources of pride are the Boston Pops and the Boston Red Sox. Conductor Keith Lockhart had the idea to combine the two and record an album of baseball songs at Boston Symphony Hall. The Red Sox Album includes the Dropkick Murphy's “Shipping Up to Boston”. The song was played at the end of the World Series in 2004. Closing pitcher Jonathan Papelbon danced a jig to it when the Red Sox won.

During the recording of the album Lockhart had the audience in the hall sing along to the orchestration of “Sweet Caroline” (another song that is often played at Fenway Park). Other quintessential baseball songs included on the album are “The Star Spangled Banner”, “The National Game”, “Casey at the Bat” and “Take Me Out to the Ball Game”. The CD was released April 6, 2009, the original opening day of the Boston Red Sox. May 21-23 the Boston Pops will pay homage to the Red Sox and devote a concert to the baseball classics.

The summer season of Tanglewood begins July 3rd with an all Tchaikovsky performance. Some of the summer performances at Tanglewood are already sold out. August 7, 2009 trumpeter Chris Botti will perform with the Boston Pops. His recently televised concert “Chris Botti in Boston” was filmed at Symphony Hall. The Boston Symphony will perform with Yo Yo Ma at the weekend's end.

Tanglewood on Parade is held July 28, 2009. Small performances will take place throughout the grounds. In celebration of Galileo this year giant telescopes will be set up for viewing on the perimeter of the lawn. Tanglewood backstage pass weekends will also be provided in July on the weekends of July 24th and 31st. The weekend package includes hotel, meals and backstage activities including discussions, artist and musician meet-and-greets as well as tours of the grounds and stage.

Stephanie hopes to broadcast from Boston May 16, 2009 to see the departure of the Volvo Ocean Fleet.

US listeners of the “Travel with Stephanie Abrams” show heard a March broadcast of “Traveling Feet” from the Cliffs of Moher just before they left for a trip to Ireland. After arriving at Shannon Airport the group drove directly to Aillwee Cave which was also discussed in the show. Stephanie would love to have that group on the air to talk about their experience in Ireland.

Fun Facts:

The Dropkick Murphy's song “Tessie” is a re-working of the Boston Red Sox anthem and became the official song of the Red Sox's 2004 World Series victory.

Neil Diamond has stated that the inspiration for the song “Sweet Caroline” was President John F. Kennedy's daughter Caroline Kennedy.
