On route to the Cliffs of Moher visitors will drive through the Burren, an otherworldly looking landscape shaped by the dissolution of limestone. Travelers will also see signs for Aillwee Cave, the dramatic underworld of the Burren area.

Aillwee Cave was formed by a river created from glacial melt at the end of an early ice age. A subterranean river continues to run through the cave and visitors will also see several waterfalls. Aillwee Cave was home to the European Brown Bear before the end of the last ice age.

Walking tours last approximately 35 minutes and allow visitors to travel through a kilometer of the cave. Aillwee Cave has fantastic acoustics and has hosted many choir groups, recording artists and performance artists. One noteworthy performer was the late Marcel Marceau. Various television programs and movies have also been filmed there.

The Cliffs of Moher are one of Ireland's most visited tourist attractions. The Cliffs are 8 kilometers long and are some of the highest and most spectacular cliffs in Europe. They rise 700 feet above sea level. The Cliff's of Moher Visitors Center opened in 2007. At its center is an exhibition called Atlantic's Edge. The interactive display designed by Mark Leslie, the Creative Director of Martello Media Design, was awarded Best Exhibition by the Institute of Designers in Ireland in October, 2008.

Initially O'Brien's Tower was the only visitor's center on site at the Cliffs of Moher. The tower has been closed for renovations for the last 3 years and is reopening this summer. It was built in 1835 by a local landlord. It has the best view at the Cliffs and allows visitors to see as far south as the Aran Islands and Galway Bay.

The Cliffs of Moher are in the running for the new Seven Wonders of the World. The Cliffs of Moher Visitors Centre was purposely constructed to reduce the visible impact on the incredible natural landscape. It offers one of Ireland's most stunning views and is arguably one of the world's most stunning displays of natural beauty.
