Radio & TV Show Host Travel Expert Stephanie Abrams Extends Ireland Trip to Visit County Donegal’s Inishowen and Broadcast from County Mayo’s Mount Falcon Lodge
Boston, MA – March 2009 – Proving her oft-repeated statement that Ireland is a great magnet for travelers, radio and television show host Stephanie Abrams announced today that she is extending her stay in Ireland to broadcast both Traveling Feet and Travel WITH Stephanie Abrams (www.sAbrams.com) this weekend from County Mayo. Abrams arrived at Shannon Airport last week to focus on the west coast of Ireland and Northern Ireland which included a broadcast of Traveling Feet on March 28th from the Cliffs of Moher Visitors Centre in conjunction with the luncheon held there by the 48th National Congress of SKAL International Republic of Ireland held in the Shannon Region. Abrams, recognized as a leader and expert in the travel industry, is a member of the SKAL Boston Chapter. Her shows, which broadcast five hours of new programming about travel each weekend, reach an audience of nine million targeted listeners coast-to-coast. Abrams will broadcast live on April 4th and April 5th from Mount Falcon County House Hotel in Foxford, County Mayo, a resort that Abrams describes as “a fairytale experience in luxury set in an idyllic country estate atmosphere where stately elegance intersects with grace, charm, comfort and relaxation!”

Abrams explains that she chose Mount Falcon Country House for the upcoming weekend broadcasts because, “this special place and its setting are in keeping with my mission of introducing my audiences to destinations and suppliers in the industry that I believe will provide visitors with experiences that leave them feeling enriched, enhanced, inspired and uplifted. You have to experience entering the driveway and approaching the mansion, entering its portals and finding yourself in unpretentious refinement and comfort. Now, more than ever, Mount Falcon Country House and its surroundings are the perfect prescription to recharge and rejuvenate the spirit which is the key to meeting the challenges we face daily. When the going gets tough, the tough need a mind-clearing trip to a place where the dust settles and personal goals and direction can come clearly into focus.”
Abrams notes that a benefit of being in Foxford is its proximity to valuable sightseeing opportunities in County Mayo, including the archeologically unique Ceide Fields, and to Ballina, the Sister City to Pittsfield, Massachusetts where Abrams broadcasts her shows from the Berkshire Crowne Plaza Hotel weekly when she is not traveling. Ballina is also home to Liam Geddes, Jr., frequent visitor to Berkshire County and recent winner of Ireland’s X-Factor, the Irish equivalent of American Idol, which also counts Simon Cowell among its judges. The Geddes family joined Abrams for a visit at Pontoon Bridge Hotel in Co. Mayo on her arrival day into Ireland as a special welcoming committee.
In addition to preparing for broadcasts during this visit in Ireland, Abrams is putting the finishing touches on research for a guide for travelers to Ireland which is planned for publication this year. Stops along the way include such hotels as Northern Ireland’s Beech Hill Country House in Derry City where actor Will Ferrell was a recent guest, a visit with Martin McCrossom from Derry City Tours, Mooney Hotel Group’s Dunadry Hotel & Country Club, Galway Bay Hotel in Salt Hill, the ‘g’ hotel in Galway, Temple Gate Hotel in Ennis, and the Carrygerry Country House in Newmarket-on-Fergus, a country inn that Abrams describes as the most convenient and charming place to stay when flying from Shannon Airport. During the extension of her trip, Abrams plans to visit Donegal’s northern area of Inishowen, Lisloughery Lodge in Cong, best known for being the location of the classic Maureen O’Hara and John Wayne film, The Quiet Man, and The Ardilaun Hotel in Galway. The Mount Falcon Country House broadcasts will be simulcast at www.sAbrams.com, Abrams award-winning website, where thousands of photos of Ireland and other travel destinations are displayed in the Photo Gallery, and where all shows are archived and accessible for iPod®.
Abrams plans to return to the US in time to broadcast her shows from Studio 35 at the Berkshire Crowne Plaza Hotel the weekend of April 11th and 12th. Interviews recorded at the NYTimes Travel Show, during Abrams recent trip to Miami, and while traveling in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, will be aired that weekend and in future shows. Abrams notes that, “There are so many interesting places to learn about and it’s a joy to be able to pack so much into each show. We focus on providing a variety of destinations and travel opportunities to motivate our listeners to travel,” Abrams concludes.
Upcoming broadcasts are planned in April from Acapulco in conjunction with Tiangus, Mexico Tourism’s Pow Wow and from BlueBay Resorts Grand Esmerelda on the Riviera Maya in May.
