Why Your Next Trip Should Be to the US Virgin Islands. .
. and a Bonus Reason!

I am convinced that US citizens don't really take proper
advantage of having our own tropical paradise, the US Virgin
Islands (USVI) in our backyard! And from things I read about
how little cruise passengers, who stop off for a day of
shopping and not much else, experience because of their
focus on shopping with little time left to explore this
truly beautiful and uniquely special destination, I'd like
to overview for you: Ten Reasons Why Your Next Trip
Should Be to the US Virgin Islands . . . and a Bonus Reason!

Beach Resort
1) USVI: America's Tropical Playground: the close to home
tropics that is home! Same language, same post office, same
US dollar currency.
2) Easy to get to with non-stop flights from many US gateways
where a warm American welcome wraps itself up in the warm
balmy breeze that awaits the visitor to the US Virgin Islands.
3) Pristine turquoise waters offering every water sport,
snorkeling, SCUBA diving, sailing, yachting, deep-sea fishing
and sugary sandy beaches which make the perfect backdrop
for family fun by day and romantic settings by night.
4) Exquisite mountain-top views of the Caribbean that haven't
changed since Sir Francis Drake camped there!
5) Historic sites including Danish sugar mills, Drake's
Seat, the pirate Bluebeard's mountaintop Castle and lush
tropical plants and flowers that line the mountains and
coastline making the USVI a photographer's paradise.
6) Championship golf courses and serene spas to fit every
travelers desires.
7) Island hop from St. Thomas to St. John to St. Croix for
three diverse experiences in one magnificent destination
easily visited by ferry or "quickie" flights.
Charter or sail your own boat from one island to another
and tie up at a marina waiting to welcome you with every
service for the yachtsman and sailor!
8) The perfect lodging to fit your lifestyle, expectations
and budget is waiting for you in the US Virgin Islands:
experience total privacy in seclusion in your own villa,
enjoy absolute luxury at a lively resort within minutes
of a downtown center, or take the laid-back beachcomber's
approach to "veging out" at a sprawling resort
or condo with every comfort and let the modern world just
slip away while having every modern amenity at your fingertips.
9) Food the way you like it from grilled lobster at a beach
BBQ to fine dining served on the beach, on a mountaintop,
on a tropical dining terrace or in an elegant dining room
. . . you'll find it all in the USVI!
10) If you're a smart shopper, what you save on shopping
will pay for your trip! US citizens are allowed $1600 per
person duty-free allowance, which is twice the allowance
for visits anywhere else in the world. Because family members
living in the same household with the same last name can
pool their duty-free allowance, a family of four has an
allowance of $6400 which means this is the place to buy
that service-for-twelve bone china, crystal and silver service
or that gold and diamond watch!
Bonus Reason #11: The US Virgin Islands is America's paradise
and playground in our 'backyard!' And because it is part
of the US, citizens of the United States DO NOT NEED A PASSPORT
from the US to the USVI! Check with your airline for currently
acceptable forms of identification for travel before your
travel date and have those items ready to present at the
check-in counter.
If you're one of those cruise passengers
who only knows about the great shopping in St. Thomas, you've
missed out on the rest of the USVI experience and it's time
you packed your bags and bought an airline ticket! I promise
you won't be disappointed! You need to visit the Coral World
Underwater Observatory, Blackbeard's and Bluebeard's Castles,
Drakes Seat and Magen's Bay and the Mountain Top for their
world famous banana daiquiri. You'll want to check out the
Estate St. Peter Great House & Botanical Garden and
the oldest synagogue under the American flag that is unique
with its sand floor and you won't want to miss St. John
National Park and the joy of taking a ferry from one island
to another!
If you've only stopped in the USVI to
shop, what a disservice you've done yourself! It's time
to take your US dollars to a place where they are really
worth something and give yourself an experience that is
tailored to fit your idea of the ideal vacation in paradise.
In the USVI, you really can have it all and have it your
way . . . from elegant service to beachcomber’s delight,
from secluded to in- the- midst- of -everything, from on
land to at sea, from luxurious to economical to camping
in the Virgin Islands National Park! The USVI has it all!
It's alarming how this amazing destination can be so misunderstood
and seen, by those who only spend a few brief hours on a
cruise stop, as one-dimensional. But it's understandable
since you can't judge a dinner by tasting some hors d'oeuvres.
The good news is that this very idea is
the reason that you should make it your business to put
the US Virgin Island on your "Must Visit" list
for 2008! You won't regret it and I promise you won't be
disappointed! And I’m even taking my own advice and
starting out 2008 with a healthy dose of St. Thomas and
St. John. You'll be able to hear Traveling Feet and Travel
WITH Stephanie Abrams live from the USVI on January 5th,
